Little Native Alpine Wildflowers

In my last post, I shared some scenic photographs from our trip to the Tidbinbilla Ranges. My family, especially my oldest daughter (8), took great delight in exploring the bush and discovering beautiful little hidden treasures....summer flowering, native alpine wild flowers.

It was lovely to watch her enthusiasm and delight as she made her discoveries....



This delicate little flower is the Royal Blue Bell, the floral emblem for the Australian Capital Territory.



The girls had a good giggle whenGrumpyDaddy (also a Scientist) told them that this trigger flower smacks the bees on the bottom!


We found these little pink wax flowers tucked away.



This daisy-like flower surrounded us as we ate our picnic



The bees and ants were making the most out of the little tea tree flowers.



We were a little disappointed to discover that these little rock roses are actually native to the UK. But I've added them to the collection anyway.

    each is delightful; I adore the leptospermum in the bushland, and the little rock-rose is so deeply yellow; beautiful.

      Thanks Carole. I like the little rock-rose too, that's why I added it even though it's not a native.
