Thankful for my Friend

Sometimes in your life, if you are really lucky, you meet an amazing person.

This is the person who has the remarkable ability to see the good in everybody.

You can sit and chat to this person and the hours just seem to fly by and you feel as happy as you have ever been.

Someone with the most beautiful sense of style and artistic talent for baking and decorating the worlds most amazing cakes.

This amazing person is the one who brings you chicken soup when you have pneumonia.

She will pick your kids up from school when you are too sick to drive, or taking care of one of your children too sick to go in the car....or  you just can't find the stupid keys!

This amazing person will support you through one of the most difficult, stressful and emotional times of your families life. She will take time off work to have lunch and wait by the phone with you. She will even come over and cook an amazing dinner for your entire extended family to make sure that everyone at least has a descent meal

This is the person who will listen to you  without judgment, offering only compassion empathy and support.

This is the person who sees your children in the same rose colored light that you do.

This person will pretend to turn a blind eye to the disaster area that can sometimes be your house and even help you vacuum!

This is the ONLY person you would ever sing an ABBA duet with on sing-star.

This person will stand on my side.

This is the person who will send supportive text messages in response to slightly unbalanced tweets.

This  is the person who only encourages you when you come up with a bizarre, cockamamie  plan to start blogging, and even helps you to set up your blog......

Sometimes, in your life, if you are really lucky, this person becomes your friend......

Once, I  messed it up, no, actually... almost completely destroyed our friendship. You see, instead of being understanding and compassionate, I was judgmental and made assumptions without knowing all the details and facts and reasons. I was selfish and didn't think of anyone else's needs except my own. I was too pre-occupied with my own feelings to notice that she was hurting too.

But I remember that feeling , that feeling of having a cold empty hole where my heart used to be...

My friend reached through that darkness, reached out to me.

We managed to talk through what had happened, apologize and move on.....Stronger.

It certainly takes somebody exceptionally special to do that……

...someone I am thankful to call my friend..

I am so proud of my freind.  Here is a sample of some of her amazing amazing cakes for you to enjoy....
